Derby Marketing Summit aims to help firms beat downturn
Businesses in Derby can find out how to market themselves successfully during a free event taking place this month.
The Derby Marketing Summit will highlight new and cost-effective marketing techniques which could help businesses survive the economic downturn. It has been organised by business coach Neale Lewis in collaboration with Derby marketing firm Moggs Marketing and aims to help businesses of all sizes understand how marketing can help them succeed.
Mr Lewis said: "The Derby Marketing Summit is focused on taking businesses to new heights in 2009.
"All attendees will go away with tips and some great tools to implement into their businesses straight away."
Firms attending the event will hear from a number of marketing professionals, including John Forkin, director of Marketing Derby, and Brett Critchley, managing director of Derby-based firm Orchid IT.
Along with Mr Lewis and Moggs Marketing managing director Roger Moggs, they will give help and advice about how businesses can stand out from the competition, convert leads into sales and encourage customers to return.
Information about how new marketing media, such as the internet, can be used to help generate profit will also be available.
Mr Moggs said the event would offer practical support, which businesses could use to help them survive the recession.
He said: "A lot of business do not fully understand how marketing works and the benefits it can bring.
"Many think of marketing as spending money on advertising but it actually comes before promotion and will allow a business to find out how they are perceived by the public.
"This means when it comes to spending their hard-earned cash on promoting the business they can be sure they are going about it the right way.
"In times of recession, the marketing budget is often the first thing to be pulled but we want to show people that there is still business to be had even now and that marketing properly can help them attract that business.
"There are a lot of these types of seminars going on but we want to make this tangible for businesses of all sizes and will be offering really proactive advice from a number of specialists in this field."
Mr Lewis added: "At the seminar, business owners are guaranteed to get real ideas which they can implement into their business and see the results straight away."
The event takes place at Derby Quad on Thursday, February 26, from 8.30am to 11am. To register for one of the 60 places, call Mr Lewis on 01335 330933 or e-mail nealelewis @actioncoach.com or call Mr Moggs on Derby 363925.
